Writing a Winning Submission
Your submission is your moment to shine – and a strong, well-crafted entry can make all the difference. Judges are looking for clear, compelling answers that tell a story, backed by evidence and heart.
Here’s how to put your best foot forward:
Read the Question Carefully
Each question may have multiple parts. Break it down and address each element clearly. If it asks what you did and how you did it – answer both.
Start Strong – Tell Your Story
Open with impact. Set the scene and explain why you deserve to win. Paint a picture of your business, your people, and what makes you truly unique. Hook the judges early and make them want to read more.
Show, Don’t Just Tell
Support your claims with:
- Testimonials or client feedback
- Survey results or performance stats
- Marketing campaign outcomes
- Case studies or success stories
Use real examples to prove your point – this adds credibility and brings your submission to life.
Use Facts & Figures
Quantify your achievements where possible. Growth percentages, occupancy rates, repeat visitor stats or engagement data – this helps demonstrate measurable success and impact.
Include Powerful Images
A picture really is worth a thousand words. Include at least five high-resolution images (300dpi/1MB+) that support your submission. These could be:
- Your business in action
- Customer interactions
- Facility upgrades or event photos
- Your team doing what they do best
Be Concise, But Don’t Skimp
Judges are reading many submissions – make yours easy to absorb:
- Use bullet points or headings for clarity
- Keep language simple and direct
- Avoid jargon
- Stick to the word limit – but don’t be vague
Aim for quality over quantity – rich, relevant detail wins every time.
Bonus Tip: Proofread & Ask for Feedback
Before submitting, get someone else to read your entry. They may spot missing details, confusing sections or areas where you can add impact.
Take the time to craft your submission thoughtfully – it’s not just a form; it’s your opportunity to show the judges what makes your business exceptional.
Make them remember you. Make it count.
